This is a great CNN Article. I CAN believe the NYPD is using Typewriters. Two years ago my Jeep was stolen in Brooklyn, and the NYPD still hasn't found it. I was surprised anyone wanted that old Jeep. It had 200 thousand miles on it, and I was about to donate it. When the officers arrived I noticed their Toughbook in their police car had the blue screen of death on it. They were using their cell phones to call in and see if the Jeep was towed. I told them I could fix their toughbook, the officers said most of their police car computers had the blue screen of death on them or were very slow. While I waited with them I fixed the toughbook, they called their supervisor and four other NYPD cars showed up. I fixed them too. The officers told me to put on a tie and go to City Hall and talk to the City government to help them out. So I can see why they are using typewriters. You need a good IT Department FIRST.. At least the Typewriter works.
I am not for the Typewriter, any department involved in operations needs good computers, good software and good support. With that maybe I would of got my jeep back by now…however do I want it back..NO!
